Owner of Personal-best Bodywork-
Erin Chlumsky Roy, LCMT, RYT
Be happy. Be healthy. Be free. Just BE!
Erin’s journey to becoming a holistic practitioner of massage and yoga began in middle school when she decided to become a runner. She ran cross-country and track throughout middle school, high school and college and then continued her post-collegiate/elite career doing marathons. Erin’s running experiences helped her to realize that what she wanted was a career that was involved with health and wellness. She began this career focus by managing a local running store in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to the store, Erin managed running events and started coaching runners. While doing this work, she became a bit more knowledgeable and a lot more fascinated about the human body and how it works! Her interest in the human body and her running career eventually led her to Colorado and The Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado! While Erin completed her massage certification she also gained experience in the rehabilitation field by working as a physical therapy aide and a medical assistant in Boulder.
As an accomplished elite runner (finishing as fast as 2:48:11 for a 43rd overall woman’s finish in the 2006 Chicago Marathon, persevered through the extreme heat and humidity in the 2007 Chicago Marathon to finish 37th overall), Erin understands the training and intensity it takes to compete at super high levels and recognizes the importance of recovery and balance.
These experiences guided her to the yoga experience! Yoga became her savior due to a running injury and many other life happenings. She began to do yoga as much as possible and soon fell in love with it; so much that she decided to teach–receiving her 200-hour certification from the Nosara Yoga Institute in beautiful and healing Costa Rica! She wanted to give to others what she had received from her yoga experience (especially runners/athletes because yoga is a perfect supplement to repetitive type sports)! Erin ultimately found balance and also what has become her massage and yoga specialty: prevention of injury and recovery/rehabilitation.
As a Libra, Erin is easygoing, sociable, communicative, and especially well balanced! Balance is very important to her, and she feels that it is one of the things she is able to bring to her client’s bodies and lives!
Erin’s massage focuses on balancing your body using neuromuscular trigger point, deep tissue, myofascial release, range of motion stretching and sports therapy. She offers an interdisciplinary approach to yoga that places the highest value on exploring the very roots of yogic inquiry. Whether you are an athlete, have back pain or injury, or just want to delve into your yoga practice, she has the experience you’re looking for. When your understanding and insights into yoga are grounded in your own experience, you will have a foundation for life-long learning–wherever your curiosity takes you. Techniques used to address your whole person include pranayama, asana, vinyasa flow, and meditation practice. Students of her class have said, “I hated yoga until I experience your class!”
In Erin’s free time, she enjoys yoga, music, spending time outdoors, camping, running, hiking, climbing, and being with friends and family!
